Corsica, also known as Korsica is an island that belongs to the French Republic located in the Blue Coast in the south of the italian island of Sardinia. It's annex to France occured in 1768 when it's lands where inhabited by important figures like Napoleon. It's population is close to 300,000 inhabitants and today is one of the best tourist destinations that exist for sport, nature and landscape lovers!
Corsica besides being French territory, administratively has a few particularities that have nothing to do with french territory. It's denomination of Territorial Collectiveness makes this gain economic strength. The island is divided in two areas, the high area of Corsica whose capital is Bastia and southern Corsica whose capital is Ajaccio.
The island is found only 200kms to the southeast of the Blue Coast, in the Mediterrenean Sea at the height of the Italian Tuscany. It is an incredibly beautiful island, who the greeks named Kalliste which means the pretty one. Almost one thousand kilometers of beaches, with 1/3 of golden sand beaches where you can enjoy aquatic sports, scubadiving, trekking and many more other outdoor sports.
Porto Vecchio and Calvi are two preferred destinations in what tourism is referred too.
